If you’re applying for a US visa, particularly a work visa like the H-1B or L-1, having a solid employment letter is key to backing up your application.

This letter serves as proof that you have a legitimate job offer in the United States and that your employer is sponsoring you for the visa.

But what should this letter include? Here’s a breakdown of what a strong employment letter looks like, along with a sample letter you can use as a guide.

What Should an Employment Letter for a US Visa Include?

The employment letter should contain specific details about your job, your employer, and your visa status. Make sure it’s comprehensive and includes the following:

  1. Company Letterhead: The letter should be on official company letterhead with the company’s name, address, and contact information.
  2. Job Title: Clearly mention the position you’re being hired for.
  3. Job Description: Outline your duties and responsibilities in the position.
  4. Salary Information: Specify your wage or salary. This helps the visa officers determine if the wage meets the prevailing wage standards in the US.
  5. Employment Dates: Include your start date, and if applicable, the expected duration of your employment.
  6. Visa Sponsorship: Mention that the company is sponsoring your visa and any relevant details.
  7. Employer Contact Information: This includes the name and contact details of a person the visa officer can reach for confirmation, typically your HR representative or hiring manager.
  8. Signature: The letter should be signed by someone in a managerial or HR position at the company.

Helpful Tip

When traveling to USA, travel insurance is much recommended.

Two great plans are, Atlas America and Safe Travels USA.

However there are other choices like these, as well.
