Summers are meant for memorable vacations. Last year, my sister and her family came to USA for a family trip. When I researched about the best places to visit in America in summer, I was amazed to find that the United States is full of scenic beauty and gorgeous beaches that offer the perfect summer destinations. From long trails and woodsy mountains to city skylines and peaceful beaches or even adventure sports, you can find almost everything in the country. But, what my sister and her family wanted was to get away from the heat.

So, here’s a list I created for them of cold places to visit in the US during the summer.

Portland

One of the must-see destinations in summer is Portland. Known for its scenic beauty and diversified cuisine, it is one of the most exotic destinations in the Northwest Pacific. Along with various hiking trails, you can also try water sports or climb but Mount Hood, a dormant volcano. If you want to have some indoor fun, you can go for roasted coffee tasting, or wine tasting at local breweries. You can also check out the art galleries in town. Portland offers a wide range of activities, from those that give you an adrenalin rush to those that help you spend a peaceful day with your loved ones.

Boston

Another great destination to beat the heat in summer is Boston. There are plenty of summer activities to try here, which will completely take the heat off your mind, says an article on New England Today. From lazing on the gorgeous beaches to go sailing, whale watching or strolling through Freedom Trail, Boston has a lot to offer. For music lovers, there is always a concert you can attend. Summer is the best time for dining in the outdoor waterfront cafés in Boston for a memorable experience.

Nashville

Well known as a foodie retreat, Nashville has evolved significantly over time. If you take a stroll along the streets, you will find many cafés, restaurants, bars and coffee shops for a perfect evening. You can consider visiting Belle Meade plantation, The Parthenon, Country Music Hall of Fame and Grand Ole Opry also promise memorable experiences. Nashville is the haven of people who are passionate about country music.

Seattle

You can paddle, kayak or surf and experience the city’s best views in a unique way. Other than this, you can choose to have a sun bathe at the gorgeous Alki beach, hop on to a ferry boat or shop at Pike-Place market. Seattle is a hub for art and performances. So, if you are passionate about the arts, this is where you will find numerous art exhibitions and theatre and music performances to choose from.

Bryce Canyon National Park

Bryce Canyon National Park is one of the most unique nature parks in the US. It is home to a large concentration of colorful hoodoos or stone pillars, says an article in Local Adventurer. It offers various fun activities, such as horse riding, hiking on the Navajo Trail, watching the natural bridge and trekking to various viewing areas, such as Sunrise Point, Sunset Point, Privacy Pint, Far View Point, etc. In addition, you can also go for star gazing, fishing, wildlife watching and much more.
