After You File Your I-485
Once you file your I-485, the USCIS will send you a notice for your biometrics appointment. After you go to your biometrics appointment, you will be scheduled for an interview. During the interview, you will need to bring documents that prove your identity, relationship to your sponsor, and your eligibility for adjustment of status. You will also have to answer questions about your application and your personal history.
After your interview, the USCIS will make a decision on your application. If you are approved, you will receive a green card in the mail. If you are denied, you can appeal the decision or file a motion to reopen or reconsider your case.
